Want to sell out your product? You’ll need this!

So today I wanted to chat with you about one of the biggest things that you’ll need to sell out of your product and grow an incredibly successful business.

Now, if you’ve been listening to this podcast for a little while you will know that there is no magic bullet, there is no quick fix, there is no one size fits all and there are no hacks or shortcuts.

And if you’re new to this podcast I want you to know that this is actually a good thing as it means there’s no secret you’re missing out on and instead means that you get to create your own path and do it in a way that feels good for you.

However, across the board, this is one thing that we all need, that you must develop, if you want to grow a wildly successful business.

And it isn’t tangible.

It’s self trust.

Now the reason I really wanted to speak to this today is because I am seeing a lot of incredible business owners struggling with this, I have clients who have or who are struggling with this and I am here to tell you that I too, 100% have struggled with this myself, and to this day still at times struggle with self trust.

For me personally, there are times when I completely trust myself, I know that I know what I am doing, I feel confident making decisions, stepping out of my comfort zone and following that gut gut, my intuition or making a decision from previous experience and knowledge, and then, there are times when I question everything.

Was that Podcast episode good enough? Was the message conveyed clearly? Did that Instagram post resonate? Should I make the sales page the dark pink or the burnt orange? Am I speaking about my offer clearly enough?

However, the truth is, when we’re in these moments, when that self trust just isn’t there, it often then also triggers perfectionism, we start to overthink the details, we procrastinate, we don’t take inspired, messy action and we don’t make the decisions we need to - all which result in slowing us down and preventing us from making progress, moving forward and growing our businesses.

So, how is a lack of self trust showing up for you and what does a lack of self trust look like?

To start with, I’m going to say a lack of self trust acts as a form or self-sabotage.

And it often looks like you being your own worst enemy.

You either don’t make decisions because you’re too afraid that you’ll make the wrong one, or you make a decision and then agonise over the decision and what you’ve done, maybe regretting it, because you do not trust that you have made the right choice.

I‘ve seen this one play out a number of times with both clients and peers.

I have had clients designing new collections that just cannot make the choice between 2-3 colour selections, they go backwards and forwards, asking friends, family, peers, even me, their coach, what our preference is - too afraid to go with their gut or make the decision they believe is the best.

And I can say, in almost every instance when they have trusted themselves, when they backed themselves and made a decision, even though they felt sick to the stomach waiting for stock to arrive and still worried about how it would be received - when they went to market their customers absolutely loved it.

They went on to have sold out collections, 4 and 5-figure launches and multiple wholesale enquires.

I’ve worked with clients and supported peers through rebrands and helped them as they agonised over what logo they should go with, both so similar, both incredible and all they had to do was make a choice between two options they loved - yet they were afraid they’d make the wrong choice, they sit on it - again, ask for opinions.

You just have to trust, that in this moment, at this time, you are making the best choice or the one that feels right for you.

Another thing I think is really important to add here is that self trust can be broken.

So if for example, you keep telling yourself that you’ll post to instagram tomorrow, or you’ll create you’re email page sign up tomorrow and you do it again and again but you never actually take the action, you’re breaking your own self trust, you’re self sabotaging and you’re not going to get the results you want.

Self trust, is kind of like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it becomes and you’ll continue to build on that self trust.

I guess the biggest takeaways I want you to have from this episode are...

Trusting yourself completely changes your mindset, when we trust ourselves and act from that place we begin to build momentum and it’s when we start to see more growth.

You don’t have to know what you’re doing, you just have to trust yourself enough to know that you will figure it out, that you will make the right calls, that if you keep going you will achieve exactly what you want and get to where you want to go.

There is always going to be more that you feel like you could be doing, your website could be better, your socials could be sharper, you messaging could be stronger…

However you need to trust that what you are doing is enough, you need to back yourself and believe that you are making the right calls, the best decisions and that if you keep doing that, you will achieve your goals.
