Personal brands for product based business

by Kristy Pask

Question: Are you a product based business and wondering if you really need to (or should) put a face to your brand? 🤔

My answer: Definitely! 🙌

And here’s why. Putting your face to your brand (especially if you are a new or smaller brand) shows your followers and potential customers that there is a person running this show 💃 It gives them a chance to get to know you, it provides you with an opportunity to find a connection with them beyond the product, and it can help to build credibility and trust.

Now, I’m not saying your Instagram feed needs to be photo after photo of yourself (you do have a product to sell), but popping your face in your feed every 9-12 squares is something to think about. That way, when someone lands on your page they can see you and they can begin to make that personal connection.

Other brands do an awesome job by popping up in Instagram stories frequently. It can be a BTS, a day in the life, product sneak peeks, just chatting to camera 🎬 all these things just give your audience a chance to get to know you.

When it comes to your website, your about page is usually the second most visited page of any website - people come to this page to find out ABOUT YOU, so why wouldn’t you show them who is running the show here? Add a personal touch to your about page, show your visitors who you are, what you like and what you value - just a small taste of who you are 🕺

A recent study has just come out of Harvard and reveals that 95% of ALL purchase decisions are driven by unconscious urges, the biggest of which, is emotion. Let me say that again… 95% of ALL decisions and ALL purchases are made on EMOTION.

There really is only so much you can say about your product. Putting your face and your story to your brand gives you the opportunity to create another side to your business and another way to connect with your audience.

Not sure exactly what I mean – pop on over to instagram and check out the following product based businesses I think are doing an awesome job at this: @threadsforboys, @confetti_rebels, @okdollsau, @azuldenim. Please go and check them out!

I’d love to know your thoughts! If you’re a product based business how do you feel about this?
